Practices will be adjusted March 2, 4 due to the OFSAA Wrestling Championships scheduled in Tillsonburg march 4, 5.  Our mats will be used in the event and, therefore, our practices will be changed as follows:

Tuesday March 2 Practice:  AG practice will be changed to 5:45-6:45 pm.  Mats to be picked up for OFSAA following practice. 

NO practice Thursday March 4.  Practice is cancelled that day due to OFSAA and CIS Championships

London-Western captures 12 Provincial medals – 5 Gold, 2 Silver, 5 Bronze (Guelph, Ontario)

It was a fine performance by London-Western team members at the Provincial Championships — U18.  Congratulations to all participants.

The London-Western Wrestling Club continued their brilliant season at the 2010 Ontario Cadet Juvenile Championships held in Guelph.  A total of 12 medals consisting of 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals were won.

In the Cadet men’s division, gold medal winners were J.J. Phillips  (45kg) and Ingmar Salvador-Guzman (69 kg).  Tyler George (72kg) won the silver medal.

In the Cadet women’s division Victoria Luu (63 kg) won the bronze medal.

The club had its strongest performance in the men’s Juvenile Division. Steven Takahashi (54 kg), Richard Balfour (60kg) and Ilya Abelev (69 kg) all had extraordinary displays capturing Gold in their respective weight classes. The men’s 84 kg division saw two wrestlers from London-Western take medals with Jake Devlin placing 2nd and Billy George placing 3rd. Adam Cowan (48 kg) and Nolan Deinum (57 kg) also won bronze medals.  Brian Cowan (45kg) lost a tough match coming just short of the bronze medal placing 4th.

The Juvenile Women’s division saw Janneke Van Den Nieuwelaar (72 kg) place in 3rd  and Lisa Sylvestro (66kg) place 5th.
