The London-Western Wrestling Club ( formerly the London Amateur Wrestling & Athletic Club – LAWAC up to 2002) was created by former University of Western Ontario coach, Glynn Leyshon in the early 1970’s. The primary objective was to ensure that wrestlers were able to train and compete year-round. Today, London-Western virtually reaches all age-groups from Novice (8 & 9 years) to Senior (+20 years). The affiliation has been positive and many wrestling programs have followed the “club affiliation” started by London-Western. Team members benefit as they are able to supplement their training and competitive schedule throughout the year. London-Western has maintained a close relationship with The University of Western Ontario where varsity team members are all members of London-Western.
