London, ON<\/strong>\u00a0– The Western Wrestling team has announced they\u00a0are set to welcome 7 new recruits to their program for the 2020-21 season.<\/p>\n

“This is one of the best-recruiting classes we have had in a long time,” said Mustangs Head Coach Scott Proctor.<\/strong>\u00a0“These recruits will help us fill some gaps in our line-up that we have due to graduation,\u00a0they are all hard-working student-athletes who have enormous potential; they are a great addition to our team and the Western community.”<\/p>\n

All recruits come to Western from across Ontario with several coming from London and area.<\/p>\n

“We are proud these top recruits chose our wrestling program and Western University to continue their athletic and academic careers. They chose our wrestling program due to our reputation for providing a leading student-athlete environment: our recent outstanding results, our supportive team environment, and our commitment to our athletes’ athletic and academic success. Likewise, Western University provides a paramount student experience: a positive social environment, access to a world-class educational experience, opportunities for professional networking, and personal\/professional development.” said Proctor<\/p>\n

    \n“I chose Western because it feels right. I started wrestling when I was 6 years old and I started at Western. I think this will be a nice return to home.”<\/p>\n

    \n“Owen comes to us with a lot of potential as a wrestler. He has solid fundamentals. We are excited to start coaching him and believe that he will be a great team member. His addition to our team strengthens our middleweights; his versatility in his weight gives our team flexibility in our line-up.”<\/p>\n
