Coaching Staff update
Saeed Azarbayjani
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Saeed Azarbayjani from the Western Mustangs & London-Western coaching staff. Saeed will be moving into a head coaching role in Toronto with the Team Impact Wrestling Club. Saeed played an integral role in the ongoing development of the Mustangs and London-Western Wrestling programs since joining the staff as an assistant coach in 2009.
“I have enjoyed working with the student athletes at Western and helping them work towards achieving their individual goals,” said Azarbayjani. “I’m sad to be leaving Western, but I’m excited for this new opportunity to become a head coach. I’m grateful for the opportunities and my time in London, and wish the programs nothing but the best going forward.”
“Our program has benefitted immensely from Saeed,” said Mustangs head coach Ray Takahashi. “He will always be welcome in our wrestling room, and I know he will continue the strong bond he has developed with many of our student athletes. I wish him the very best in the future.”
Thérèse Quigley, Director of Sport and Recreation Services stated “we wish Saeed continued success in his coaching career and best wishes in his new role as head coach with Team Impact Wrestling Club. Wrestling has always been a sport in which Western has excelled our commitment to providing the best student athlete experience at Western will be our priority as we move forward in our search for a talented, energetic assistant coach.”
