Team members prep for FISU Trials, Canada Cup

It will be a busy couple of weeks for several team members with both the FISU Trials and Canada Cup taking place in Guelph beginning June 29.Team members will have seven wrestlers vying for a spot on Team Canada for the upcoming FISU World Championships in Kuortane, Finland. In order to qualify for the trials wrestlers must have been a medalist at the 2012 CIS Wrestling Championships, or placed in the top six of their weight class at the Senior Nationals.

Before the FISU Trials are even over the Canada Cup gets underway with weigh-ins on June 29 with the competition the next day. The event features top Canadian wrestlers and strong international competition, including members of the United States and Cuban Olympic teams. All team members competing in the FISU trials will compete in the Canada Cup the following day.
Anna McKee and Kyle Bonk will compete in the Pre-Junior Canada Cup, July 1.The work doesn’t end once the meets are over, as team members will be taking part in the post-Canada Cup training camp running from July 2-6. The training camp will feature wrestlers from across Canada and include international teams from US and Korea. The camp represents the largest setting where the best wrestlers from across the country join together to train.
