Rookie, D’Alleva makes outstanding debut – Leads women mustangs to team title

Mustang women’s rookie, Larissa D’Alleva placed first in the U of T Open Wrestling Tournament and was named Outstanding Female Wrestler of the Tournament.  Larissa defeated teammate, Liz Sera in the 63 kg final in a tie-breaking 3^rd round.  The mustang women placed first overall in team standings with 35 points, ahead of host U of T (12 points) and Concordia who was 3^rd with 10 points.  Jennifer Nguyen (55 kg) and Lesley McCallum (59 kg) also won individual golds while Sahana Mazumder (48 kg) placed 3^rd, and Brianne Barry (55 kg) placed 2^nd behind teammate Nguyen if the final. 

The mustang men placed 3^rd overall behind winning team McMaster (36 points) and host U of T who finished with 17 points.  Local mustang rookies, Shawn Wheatley (90 kg) and Eric Jacobson (72 kg) placed 2^nd and 3^rd respectively while Ben Baxter placed 5^th at 82 kg.  Wheatley, attended London’s South SS; Baxter, Lucas SS, and Jacobson attended Dorchester SS, and all were previous members of the London-Western Wrestling Club.
