Steven Takahashi hauls in Awards at OUA’s

OUA Wrestling Championships, Thunder Bay (February 12, 2011)

First year student, Steven Takahashi not only took his first OUA gold (54 kg) but he also was honoured with two OUA awards.   Takahashi was awarded “Rookie of the Year” and the Keegan Trophy which denotes the most outstanding male wrestler of the OUA tournament. 

He becomes the first Mustang wrestler to capture the Keegan Trophy since 1989-90 when Grant Myers received the honour.
Only six University of Western Ontario grapplers have earned the award in OUA published history including Mustangs coach, Ray Takahashi in 1979 when he was a rookie. 

Coach Takahashi was named Women’s OUA Coach of the Year.
