Athletic Banquet Awards, April 6, 2011

Jennifer Nguyen was awarded the Purple Blanket distinction award at the annual Athletic Banquet at the London Convention Centre, April 6.  Nguyen, who will  graduate this year was also named women’s team MVP. 

Steven Takahashi and Ilya Abelev were named Co-MVP’s for the men’s team, sharing the George Oliphant Trophy.  Eric Jacobson was recipient of the Leyshon Trophy representing the most dedicated team member.   

The Purple Blanket is awarded to student-athletes “who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, achieved superior distinction at the provincial and national level of competition while representing Western athletics.”  Twelve Purple Blankets were awarded among the 36 varsity team athletic program.
