Mustangs 4th at U SPORTS Nationals
U SPORTS (CIS) National Championships, February 24, 25, 2017 (Winnipeg, MB)
Five mustangs reached the medals to lead the men’s team to a 4th place team placing and 6th for the women’s team. The women were led by Michalia Walls (silver 67 kg W) and Julie Steffler (bronze 55 kg). The men’s team finished with 34 points, just behind 3rd place Alberta (33 points). McMaster placed 2nd with 37 points behind a strong Brock team who repeated as champions with 77 points.
Three of the eight mustang men won silver — Chris Nikolaou (54 kg), Caleb Rutner (68 kg) and Kyle Bonk-Dann (120 kg). It was a strong showing for the 12 mustangs (8 men, 4 women) who all qualified by placing top 3 at the OUA Championships. Congratulations!
