SFU Clansman International

December 3, 2016 (Burnaby, B.C.)

Four team members competed at the SFU Clansman tournament with solid results — Steven Takahashi placed first in the 57 kg division, while teammates, Julie Steffler (55 kg FW) took silver and Caleb Rutner (70 kg) won bronze (see photo below).  Madi Parks had a 4-2 win-loss  and placed 5th in a competitive 53 kg division.  Rutner lost on a close tie (4-4) in  his opening match vs. N. Ghaeni (UNAT) — but, later defeated Ghaeni in the consolation side.  Takahashi defeated A. Palani (BMWC), and won by the final by forfeit over D. Carpellan (BMWC).  Steffler won 2 matches enroute to the final  where she lost to D. Parrish (SFU).
