Takahashi wins Gold in Resita, May 8, 2011

Steven Takahashi won four matches to win the Romania Junior International in the 55 kg weight class.  He defeated his Bulgarian opponent 1-0, 2-2, in the final.  He and three other London-Western teammates, along with coach Dave Spinney, are representing the National Junior Team in a two week European competition and training tour.  Coach, Saeed Azarbayjani, will join the team in Ankara May 11.

Brianne Barry placed 5th (55 kg) with a 2-2 win-loss record.  Teammate, Larissa D’Alleva did not place at 63 kg, while Ilya Abelev posted a 1-2 win-loss record. 

All four will train in Resita in a multi-country training camp in Resita before leaving for Ankara (TUR) to compete in the Junior Champions Tournament, May 14, 15.   All will return to London, May 16 except Ilya who will train in Russia for one month while staying with relatives near Moscow.
